Best Shopify CRO Agencies in the UK (2026): Ranked, Including Where We Rank Ourselves

TL;DR: The Quick Read

UK Shopify CRO agencies run A/B tests on top of an unverified assumption: that the page itself is stable. It usually isn't. Layout shift, dead scripts, and slow TTFB corrupt test results before persuasion even enters the picture. Fix rendering first, then test, in that order, not the reverse.

  • Diagnose before you test: Check checkout Cumulative Layout Shift on a physical iPhone, since iOS Safari renders differently from desktop Chrome in ways that specifically break checkout conversion.
  • CLS is a revenue leak, not a cosmetic bug: One health and wellness brand recovered $40,000 a month just by locking the DOM and taking checkout CLS from 0.31 to zero.
  • Match the agency to the actual problem: If your Core Web Vitals are already clean, skip infrastructure work and go straight to a testing-first shop; if not, fixing rendering is the higher-leverage move regardless of testing methodology.
  • Get a definitive answer, not a guess: Run a free technical audit to find out which side of that line your store is on, or review the full Conversion Engineering methodology.

Adam Pearce runs Blend Commerce. He also wrote a public 20-question checklist for judging any "top Shopify CRO agency" claim, including his own. Question 6 asks whether the agency uses Shopify Analytics and GA4, or "gut feeling." Question 7 asks about heatmaps and session recordings. Question 8 asks for case studies with clear revenue results.

None of the twenty questions ask whether the store was rendering correctly before the test ran. That single gap is the entire basis for the ranking below, so it's worth being precise about what it does and doesn't prove. It doesn't make Blend's testing discipline weaker. It means their discipline, and every other UK agency's, operates one layer above a variable nobody in this market is checking.

The Problem: Everyone's Testing on Top of Something Nobody Checked

Most UK Shopify CRO agencies charge somewhere between £3,000 and £8,000 a month for an ongoing testing programme. Hypothesis, build, ship, measure, repeat. That's a legitimate discipline when the thing being tested is stable. The problem is that "stable" is an assumption nobody in this market is actually verifying.

A/B testing tools compare conversion rates between variant A and variant B on the assumption that the only thing differing between sessions is the variable being tested. If the underlying page is shifting layout mid-session, freezing the checkout button for two seconds after paint, or loading 800KB of dead JavaScript from apps deleted three years ago, then variant A and variant B aren't clean comparisons anymore. A "losing" variant might just be the one that happened to load a late-injecting trust badge slightly more often in that sample window.

Baymard Institute puts average ecommerce cart abandonment at 70.19%. Some meaningful fraction of that isn't a persuasion problem at all. It's a rendering problem wearing a conversion problem's clothes, and testing tools have no way to distinguish the two.

Ranked: The UK Shopify CRO Field

This ranking answers one specific question: if a UK Shopify brand could only do one thing before spending another pound on conversion work, who should they call first? On that specific question, we rank ourselves #1, for the reason below. On other questions, "who runs the best testing programme," "who builds the best-looking Shopify Plus storefront," the ranking would look different, and we say so.

1. Webulux, remote-first — best first call, not best at everything

We don't run ongoing A/B testing programmes. That's not our discipline, and sending a genuine UX research problem to us would be the same mismatch as sending a checkout-CLS problem to a testing agency, right tool, wrong job. What we check first, before anything else, is whether the DOM is stable, whether checkout CLS is at zero, whether mobile CVR tracks desktop within a point, whether TTFB is under 600ms.

The case for #1 is narrow and specific: this is the one check that determines whether every other agency on this list can actually deliver trustworthy results on top of their own work. A health and wellness brand came to us mid-retainer with a UK CRO shop, six months of testing, no lift showing up. What we found in DevTools instead of the test dashboard was a checkout with a Cumulative Layout Shift of 0.31 on iOS Safari, three times over Google's threshold, meaning the payment button was physically moving under people's thumbs at the moment they tried to tap it. We locked the DOM so nothing could shift after initial render. CLS went from 0.31 to exactly 0. iOS Safari checkout completion moved from 24% to 39% within 21 days, recovering roughly $40,000 a month. Every A/B test that agency had run on that checkout before the fix was measuring performance against a moving target.

The honest caveat: if your Core Web Vitals are already clean and your checkout CLS is already at zero, you don't need us. You need #2 on this list.

2. Blend Commerce, London and remote — best testing-first partner once the layer above is clean

Blend's model is built for a specific, well-defined situation: a fully in-house team running structured, hypothesis-driven experimentation with a real QA process behind each test, on brands that already have the traffic volume to make testing statistically meaningful, they're explicit about wanting 30,000+ monthly sessions before engaging. Named Agency of the Year 2026, 59% A/B test win rate, testing-first UX and personalisation. If a founder's actual bottleneck is "we don't know which messaging, which trust signals, which PDP layout converts better," that's Blend's exact discipline, and it's better than anything an infrastructure firm can offer. Their published evaluation checklist just doesn't include a row for whether the page was stable before the test began, which is the one gap this ranking is built around.

3. Xigen, UK — best behavioural-data research methodology

Xigen's approach leans on behavioural data, heatmaps and session recordings, to build the case for what to test next. That's a legitimate research methodology with 19 years and a long track record behind it. Like Blend, the discipline sits entirely at the behavioural layer: understanding what users do on a page that's assumed to be rendering correctly.

4. Eastside Co, London, Birmingham, and New York — best for large-scale enterprise builds

Eastside Co's strength is volume and scale: 500+ Shopify builds, Volkswagen and Chelsea FC among their clients. That's an engineering-and-delivery specialism at enterprise scope, migrations, complex builds, multi-brand rollouts, not a conversion-testing programme. If a brand needs a technically capable partner to execute a large replatform, Eastside's track record speaks for itself. It's a different job than the one this ranking is comparing.

5. Charle Agency, London — best for design-led Shopify Plus rebuilds

Charle works with premium DTC brands, Gilbert Rugby and Cambridge Satchel among them, and their differentiation is genuinely design-driven: high-end Shopify Plus builds where the storefront itself is the pitch. Brands hire Charle for a rebuild that needs to look like a flagship, not for a monthly testing cadence, so it ranks last only in the sense that it answers a different question than "where do I start."

How to Pick the Right Partner

Run the diagnostic before you pick a category, regardless of what this list says. Open DevTools, throttle your connection, and count scripts loading before your hero image paints. Check your checkout CLS on a physical iPhone, not an emulator, iOS Safari renders differently from desktop Chrome in ways that specifically break checkout. Akamai's research found that a 100 millisecond delay in load time can cost a 7% drop in conversions, so this isn't a cosmetic check.

If your DevTools trace comes back clean, engage a testing-first shop, Blend or Xigen, and trust the data they hand you, because it will actually be trustworthy. If it doesn't come back clean, fixing that is the higher-leverage move regardless of how good anyone's testing methodology is on top of it, ours included.
